The Speak/e/s Family of Southern Maryland was published by the Speak/e/s Family Association (SFA) in 2022. The book was written with contributions from many SFA members over a number of years. John S. Morris, III served as the Editor.
The book comprises a comprehensive genealogy of six generations of the documented descendants of Thomas Speake of St. Mary’s City, Maryland. It contains 372 pages, 18 chapters, over 2,500 facts documented in footnotes, and a name index with over 1,500 entries.
Some of the chapters are genealogical in nature, including the first five or six generations of descendants of our immigrant Thomas Speake of St. Mary’s County, Maryland. We have chapters on Thomas’ roots in England, what we have learned from the DNA studies, and our association’s history. Finally, we have chapters on what our immigrant ancestor’s life was like, the patterns of migrations as our ancestors moved out of Maryland and fanned out across the nation, and Speaks Chapel, established by and named for one of our own.
The book can be ordered either hardbound or as a paperback. The SFA will ship it to you at our expense.
